LGCB started in 1999 with the dream of bringing meaningful banking services and financial guidance to the Chinese American immigrant community. We are very proud that we have remained true to this dream from opening our first branch on 8th Avenue in Sunset Park Brooklyn, where our services were needed most, through today, where we are now the largest locally-owned Chinese American community bank in New York, with offices in Brooklyn, Queens and Chinatown, Manhattan. LGCB’s primary mission is to promote community development by providing financial services in low-income communities and to people who lack access to financing. As a result, since 2001 the Bank has been certified as a Community Development Financial Institution ("CDFI") by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, an honor shared by less than 2% of all U.S. banks. LGCB, comprised principally of Chinese American employees and directors, is also a Minority Bank and the U.S Department of the Treasury has accepted LGCB to participate in the Minority Bank Deposit Program (MBDP).

The greatest source of wealth and financial security for Americans comes through home ownership. As such, we have a robust residential lending program. Since 2003 we have been a licensed Seller-Servicer of Fannie Mae offering affordable home mortgages at low rates and flexible terms, with total financing over $1.5 billion. This means that we have helped over 4,600 families obtain home ownership, pay for college or fulfill another personal dream.

We also have a rich history of supporting local economic development through commercial real estate lending that is built on understanding, trust, responsive service, and flexible terms.
